Payloads can be fitted to the aircraft using the 'Aircraft' app on the EFB tablet. A variety of configurations are available for selection, ranging from air-defence, weapons training and display team roles.

Selecting an aircraft configuration (T1, T1/A or Red Arrows) on the EFB tablet will automatically fit an appropriate payload for that configuration, however, custom configurations are possible simply by clicking on the relevant boxes to fit/unfit the respective payloads.

Note: Due to simulator limitations, any payload changes made via the EFB may not be reflected on the MSFS weight and balance window, therefore, the total payload and aircraft weights are also shown on the EFB and update in real-time as configuration changes are made.

First introduced with the Hawk T1/A Advanced Trainer (MSFS) v0.2.0 updated, additional logic has been added which adds functionality to the following payloads/weapons:

AIM-9M: Launch and jettison

CATM-9: Jettison

CBLS/BDU-33: Release and jettison

Matra LRF4: Jettison

External Fuel Tanks: Jettison

In order for payloads to be launched/released/jettisoned, the T1/A variant of the Hawk must be selected on the EFB tablet. With the T1/A variant selected, the Missile Control Panel and Weapons Control Panel (WCP) will be fitted to the left side of the glareshield and main instrument panel in the front cockpit providing all the necessary controls for payload/weapons use.

Before firing/releasing any weapons, the MASS switch on the upper main instrument panel must be set to LIVE.

If AIM-9M sidewinder missiles are fitted, they can be fired one at a time by first pressing the AAM/SELECT button to select which wing the missile is to be fired from (PORT or STBD lights will illuminate to indicate which wing is selected), and then either clicking the respective firing controls on the control stick or by triggering the TOGGLE LAUNCH BAR SWITCH control assignment.

AIM-9M sidewinder missiles and CATM-9 captive air training missiles can be jettisoned either by clicking the guarded jettison button on the missile control panel or by triggering the TOGGLE WING FOLD control assignment.

If BDU-33 practise bombs are fitted inside of their CBLS carriers, they can be released by first moving the 'Weapon Select' switch to PB, then selecting which wing the release is to occur from by setting the 'Port' and/or 'Stbd' switches to ON (bombs can be released from one or both wings at the same time), and then either clicking the respective bomb release controls on the control stick or by triggering the TOGGLE LAUNCH BAR SWITCH control assignment.

CBLS, BDU-33, Matra LRF4, and External Fuel Tanks can be jettisoned either by clicking the jettison button on the weapons control panel, or by triggering the TOGGLE WATER RUDDER control assignment.

All payload/weapons-related MSFS control assignments are listed below:

Bomb Jettison - TOGGLE WATER RUDDER

Bomb Release / Missile Launch - TOGGLE LAUNCH BAR SWITCH

Sidewinder Jettison - TOGGLE WING FOLD

Payloads/weapons have realistic weights and therefore their presence on the aircraft will affect the aircraft's weight and balance. For example, firing a sidewinder off the port wing will cause the aircraft to roll right if a sidewinder is still fitted to the starboard wing. Remember, the Hawk is not a fly-by-wire aircraft, so it is up to the pilot to manually correct for these changes in weight and balance using control inputs and aileron/rudder trim.

Note: Due to in-game marketplace policies, PC and Xbox marketplace versions of the Hawk T1/A Advanced Trainer will feature static weapons only.
