v1.1 update introduces pilot callout sounds. These are automatically triggered and called out by your virtual co-pilot if you have the ‘Pilot Callouts’ option enabled on the EFB aircraft page > settings menu.

The callouts are associated with particular stages of flight, which are detected by the conditions outlined below. The callout will then be automatically triggered when the associated condition is met. For example, the “60, checked” callout will be triggered during the takeoff roll when the aircraft accelerates through 60 KIAS.

Takeoff

Conditions:

  • Aircraft is on the ground
  • All throttle levers are above 40%
  • Landing, beacon and navigation lights are switched on
  • Ground speed is greater than 30 knots and aircraft is accelerating

Callouts:

  1. “Power checked” – All throttle levers are above 90%
  2. “60, checked” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to 60 knots
  3. “100” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to 60 knots
  4. “110” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to 110 knots
  5. “120” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to 120 knots
  6. “130” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to 130 knots
  7. “140” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to 140 knots (unless rotation speed is lower)
  8. “Decision, rotate” – Indicated airspeed is greater than or equal to rotation speed, based on current aircraft weight (as shown on speeds card)

Climb

Conditions:

  • Aircraft is airborne following a takeoff, go-around or missed approach
  • Landing gear is raised
  • Height is greater than 50ft AGL
  • Vertical speed is greater than +1000ft/min

Callouts:

  1. “Undercarriage up” – Undercarriage is not selected up

Approach

Conditions:

  • Aircraft is airborne following a descent
  • Indicated airspeed is below 250 knots
  • Height is less than 3000ft AGL
  • Vertical speed is less than -750ft/min, or TRACK/GLIDE AP or pitch director modes are selected

Callouts:

  1. “Speed” - Indicated airspeed is less than approach speed and is close to stall speed
  2. “Speed checked, undercarriage down” - Height is less than 2500ft AGL, indicated airspeed is less than or equal to pattern speed, based on current aircraft weight (as shown on speeds card), undercarriage is not selected down
  3. “Airbrakes to medium drag” - Height is less than 2000ft AGL, undercarriage is down, airbrake is not selected to medium drag
  4. “Airbrakes to high drag” - Height is less than 150ft AGL, undercarriage is down, airbrake is not selected to high drag

Landing

Conditions:

  • Aircraft is on the ground following an approach or aborted takeoff
  • All throttle levers are below 40%
  • Ground speed is less than 50 knots and aircraft is decelerating

Callouts:

  1. “Parachute streamed” – Brake parachute has been streamed
  2. “Parachute jettisoned” – Brake parachute has been jettisoned

Air-to-air refuelling

Conditions:

  • Air-to-air refuelling enabled and in progress

Callouts:

  1. “Vulcan is clear to connect” - Air-to-air refuelling has been enabled
  2. “Contact. Fuel transferring.” - Air-to-air refuelling has begun
  3. “Disconnect. Fuel transfer complete.” - Air-to-air refuelling is complete
