The RJ Professional has a Flap Trim Compensation (FTC) system fitted to all variants that decreases the elevator trim by approx. 1 unit nose down when the flaps are extended from 0 to 18 degrees, and increases the trim (nose up) by the same amount when retracting from 18 to 0 degrees.

The FTC is designed to reduce the control inputs required to counteract the pitch effect as the flaps are moving between the 0 and 18 degree positions. The system is inhibited when the aircraft is on the ground or when the autopilot is engaged.
