A back up tool is included with FS Traffic, allowing custom files to be backed up and restored between different versions of FS Traffic. The tool is available in two locations:

1. Integrated within the Traffic Control Centre > Options page

2. Available as a standalone download

To download the standalone version of the FS Traffic Back Up Tool, please click on the download link below:

Both versions of the FS Traffic Back Up Tool work in the same manner; however, the tool is also available as a separate download to cater for users who may be updating from an older version of FS Traffic that doesn't have integrated back up tools in the Traffic Control Centre.

The tool allows for a customised back up experience by providing options for selecting which files are to be backed up, before then saving them to a custom location and importing them once the product has been updated. A tick in one of the boxes adjacent to the following options will back up all of the files in that section of the FS Traffic product:

Schedules – enabling this option will back up all of the FS Traffic schedule files. This will include any changes that have been made to the schedules on the Schedules page of the Traffic Control Centre (for example, changing the departure time, aircraft type or days operated).

Flight Plans – enabling this option will back up all of the FS Traffic flight plan files. This will include any flight plans that have been imported on the Flight Plans page of the Traffic Control Centre.

Aircraft .ini files – enabling this option will back up all of the FS Traffic aircraft.ini files. The aircraft.ini files house data relating to which liveries are assigned to each aircraft type, as well as any additions or edits that have been made on the Aircraft page of the Traffic Control Centre (for example, adding a new livery or adding a new aircraft type).

Airport and Airline Databases – enabling this option will back up all of the airlines and airport information stored in the FS Traffic database. This includes an aircraft database, an airline database and various airport databases. This option will also back up any new airports which may have been added on the Schedules page of the Traffic Control Centre.

Important! The FS Traffic Back Up Tool does NOT run automatically. We strongly recommend backing up all of the custom FS Traffic files prior to uninstalling or updating the product in order to prevent any loss of data. It is also good practice to periodically back up this data, even if you are not intending to uninstall/update FS Traffic.

Note 1: Unless there is a specific reason to only back up a certain section of the FS Traffic add-on, we would recommend that all boxes are ticked so that the entire product is backed up, including all of the custom files.

Note 2: The backup process involves backing up ALL files in the selected categories and then restoring them into the new installation. As this process will overwrite any newer files, this may prevent newly developed fixes/ improvements from appearing in the product. In order to ensure that the latest fixes/improvements make their way into the product, a full clean installation of FS Traffic will be required (without restoring backed-up files).
